Jorge Chávez International Airport

Lima, Peru

Where to start
Authorized Airport Taxi

Use the authorized taxi counters inside arrivals (both National and International) — staff escort you to your assigned driver for a fixed-fare ride. Safe and predictable. Uber, Cabify, and InDrive all operate at LIM, but pickup zones moved when the new terminal opened in June 2025, so follow current in-app pin instructions rather than older blog posts.

Pickup Guidance

Rideshare

Uber, Cabify, InDrive, and DiDi all operate from designated pickup zones outside the new terminal — the locations changed when it opened in June 2025, so always follow the current in-app pin rather than older blog posts.

Taxi

Use only the authorized taxi counters inside arrivals (counters in both National and International Arrivals). Pay first, receive a slip, and airport staff escort you to your assigned driver in the exclusive parking area. Unauthorized taxis are a documented safety risk.

Shuttle

Airport Express Lima is a private shuttle direct to four Miraflores stops (bilingual staff, luggage racks, roughly 07:00–22:00). Many Lima hotels also arrange transfers worth pre-booking.

Transit

No metro or commuter rail reaches LIM yet (Line 2 is under construction). The public-transit option is AeroDirecto, the ATU bus with five routes across the wider Lima metro (the Quilca route runs 24/7) — more affordable than Airport Express but Spanish-only and may require transfers.

Private Transfer

Pre-booked private transfers are very popular at LIM given safety concerns and traffic — a driver meets you with a name sign at arrivals. Strong choice for first-time visitors and late-night arrivals.

Local Tips

  • The new LIM terminal opened in June 2025 and changed all pickup zones — trust current airport signage and the in-app pickup pin over any blog written before mid-2025.
  • Use only the authorized taxi counters inside arrivals (both National and International); staff escort you to your assigned driver. Unauthorized taxis at LIM are a documented safety risk — decline anyone offering transport inside the terminal.
  • Two official buses serve the city: Airport Express Lima is a private shuttle direct to four Miraflores stops (bilingual staff, luggage racks, ~07:00–22:00); AeroDirecto is the more affordable public ATU bus with five routes but is Spanish-only and may need transfers.
  • Budget Lima traffic to Miraflores carefully — about 40 minutes in light traffic but 90+ minutes during rush hour (roughly 7–9am and 5–8pm).
  • Some Uber drivers ask you to walk a short distance from the official pickup point to avoid taxi-union conflicts — only do so if the walk destination matches your in-app pin.
  • Cabify is often preferred by locals for reliability; Uber, InDrive, and DiDi all operate, and authorized taxis accept cards.

Tarmyq local tip

Older blogs about Lima airport pickup are unreliable — the new terminal opened in June 2025 and changed pickup zones. Always follow current airport signage and the in-app pickup pin, not pre-2025 blog directions.
