HYD

Rajiv Gandhi International Airport

Hyderabad, India

Where to start
Uber / Ola

Hyderabad's airport is ~24–25 km south of the city, but note Hyderabad is “two halves” — the IT corridor (Hitech City, ~33–40 km) and the old city (Charminar, ~45–55 km) are far apart and priced differently, so know your destination. The HAC prepaid taxi counter inside arrivals gives a fixed government fare; Uber and Ola both operate from the pickup zone outside (Uber meets at parking Pickup Point C), with surge at peak/late night and the ORR toll added. The TGSRTC Pushpak Airport Liner bus (boarding at Pickup Point D) is the budget winner. For late-night arrivals, the prepaid counter or a pre-booked cab beats app surge. There's no airport metro yet.

Pickup Guidance

Rideshare

Uber and Ola both operate fully (also Rapido) from a designated pickup zone outside the arrivals exit — for Uber, the meeting point is parking Pickup Point C. Book on the airport Wi-Fi before walking out; the ORR toll is added to the fare, and surge spikes at peak and late nights (availability thins sharply after midnight).

Taxi

The HAC (Hyderabad Airport Cabs) prepaid counter is inside the arrivals hall (before the exit) — pay a fixed, government-approved zone fare, get a receipt with driver/vehicle details, and board outside. Authorized radio taxis (Alyte, Skycabs, OHM, Meru) also operate from counters/stands at arrivals.

Shuttle

Pre-booked transfers and hotel cars meet you at arrivals with a name board — best for late arrivals (fixed fare, ORR toll included, flight-tracked).

Transit

The TGSRTC Pushpak Airport Liner — AC/electric buses (phone chargers, wheelchair accessible) — runs to multiple city stops from Pickup Point D. Cheapest. There's no airport metro yet (a line is long-planned but not complete).

Private Transfer

Pre-booked transfers and hotel cars meet you at arrivals with a name board — fixed fare, ORR toll included, flight-tracked; best for late-night arrivals.

Local Tips

  • Know which Hyderabad you're going to — the IT corridor (Gachibowli/Hitech City, ~33–40 km) and the old city (Charminar/Secunderabad, ~45–55 km) are far apart and priced differently. Have your area/pincode ready.
  • For Uber, head to parking Pickup Point C; for the Pushpak bus, Pickup Point D — both are clearly signed off the arrivals exit. Book your app ride on the free airport Wi-Fi before walking out.
  • For late-night arrivals, the HAC prepaid counter (fixed night surcharge) or a pre-booked cab beats app surge — Ola/Uber availability drops sharply after midnight and surge can spike.
  • The ORR expressway toll is part of the trip — app cabs usually add it at the end; prepaid/pre-booked fares typically include it. No surprise either way, just expect it.
  • There's no airport metro yet — don't plan around one; it's prepaid taxi, Ola/Uber, or the Pushpak bus.
  • SIM activation can take time for foreigners — grab an eSIM beforehand, or use airport Wi-Fi to book your first ride.

Tarmyq local tip

Two things make Hyderabad easy: know whether you're headed to the IT corridor or the old city (they're far apart and priced differently), and use the right pickup point — Uber meets at parking Point C, the Pushpak bus at Point D. For a late-night landing, the HAC prepaid counter's fixed fare beats Ola/Uber surge, which gets steep after midnight. And expect the ORR toll on the fare — it's normal here.
