⚠️ Dubai Metro hours vary by day — check RTA/Dubai Airports timings before relying on it for early-morning or late-night travel.
Dubai International Airport
Dubai, United Arab Emirates
Dubai Metro Red Line stops directly under Terminal 1 and Terminal 3 (not T2) and is fast, clean, and well-signed in English. Careem and Uber both work but pickup is in the parking structures — a 5–10 minute walk from arrivals. Uber Taxi specifically is not available at DXB; use a regular Uber tier or Careem.

Pickup Guidance
Rideshare
Careem (the regional default, often better availability and pricing) and Uber both pick up in the airport parking structures — follow "E-Hailing" signs from arrivals; the walk can be 5–10 minutes. Note that the Uber Taxi product is not available at DXB — use UberX, Uber Comfort, a premium tier, or Careem. Book in the app before you exit to avoid congestion.
Taxi
RTA taxis are regulated, metered, and run 24/7 from the official rank outside arrivals at each terminal. Cream cars with colored roofs (pink roof = woman driver, gold = premium). Airport pickup is a base fare plus per-km; cards and cash both accepted.
Shuttle
Many DXB-area hotels run shuttles from the arrivals level; the airport also has on-property hotels (Dubai International Hotel inside the terminals). Confirm your hotel's pickup procedure in advance.
Transit
Dubai Metro Red Line stops directly beneath Terminal 1 (R14) and Terminal 3 (R13) — Terminal 2 has no metro (take a taxi, ride app, or the free shuttle to T1/T3). Buy a Nol card at the station. Hours vary by day — Sunday starts late (around 8:00 AM) — so check RTA timings before relying on it for an early or late flight.
Private Transfer
At Terminal 3, the DXB Greet & Go QR-code service handles pre-booked hotel transfers and limousines — get a QR code from your operator before arrival and scan it at the kiosk to find your assigned driver.

Local Tips
- Dubai Metro is by far the lowest-cost and often fastest option to reach central Dubai during peak traffic hours — it bypasses road congestion entirely.
- Both Careem and Uber are fully legal and widely used in Dubai. Careem is more popular locally; Uber tends to be more familiar to international visitors.
- All licensed taxis are metered by law — if a driver asks to negotiate a flat rate, refuse and take a different taxi or use Careem/Uber instead.
- Terminal 2 (mostly budget and regional carriers) does not have a Metro station — take a taxi or Careem/Uber from T2.
- During Dubai Shopping Festival, New Year's Eve, and major events, traffic can be extreme — the Metro is the most reliable option.
- Nol cards (for the Metro) can be purchased at station vending machines with cash or card — keep it for return trips as they are reloadable.
Tarmyq local tip
WhatsApp, FaceTime, and Skype voice/video calls are blocked in the UAE. Texting works, but if you need to call someone after landing, install BOTIM in advance or have a VPN ready.
